Student attacked at Lakelands Middle School

I have no idea why, but I was picturing a female suspect in my head as I read the letter.

Where in Kentlands did this happen?

Enough is enough. MCPS needs to bring in more security and partner with parents to get rid of this behavior. And, bring back consequences.

So what is MCPS supposed to do outside of school, like this incident?

I think people are not paying attention to the fact this happened not at school. MCPS cannot control what kids do not at school. Policing not school is done by police - as happened here.

Nothing. If it did not occur on school property, it is not a school issue. They will sit down and have a unified talking circle at best.

+1. Thread title is inaccurate.

Maybe because the incident happened off schoool property they allowed to give more details? Seems back asswards but I would not be surprised if the state regulations are written this way to address “community” concerns.

If it were my MS child that had been attacked, I would be filing assault charges. I agree MCPS will just transfer the perpetrator to another school, passing the problem along

I like that idea - criminal juvenile facility.

Why are they raging with anger?

Seriously? Parents not parenting. Caring more about their jobs, money, and screens. That’s just a start.

There sure are. But in this case the perpetrator is male. Was just confirming that fact for PP.

Exactly. Violent criminals need real consequences.
