You sort of find out what happened to her in the mid credits scene.

What?!?!?! That was the best Disney movie ever made!

I don’t think they needed the Rock unless they had signed a contract for the first one that basically required them to use him for the character moving forward.

They absolutely could have hired someone to do a voice comparable to the Rock and kids would not have noticed or cared.

This is why Justine Bateman is all hot and bothered about the threat of AI.

My kid says Moana 3 is already in the making?

Yup. My guess is Disney will be going more in the cinematic universe route - fewer franchises with more movies per franchise. At some point they will probably connect them, like a Frozen/Moana crossover.

+1

Incredibly overrated film.

I fell asleep. But I agree, at least for the parts I stayed awake for.

Our family liked Moana 2 (2 adults, 2 home over Thanksgiving from college). We agree there weren't any memorable songs (and we didn't leave singing/humming anything), but the movie was good, and the animation, esp the water scenes, was terrific

Why did they do this without Lin Manuel Miranda? He was the reason the first Moana was a hit. It's not like the storyline was amazing, LOL

He wrote the music for the new Mufasa movie coming out in a few weeks. My guess is he couldn’t/wouldn’t do both, or Disney thought the two scores would be too similar.
