| I feel your pain- ASA 2013 here and need to 1) convince my dd to consider other clubs and 2) get her in front of them. |
Union I think is Majestics. VDA has a team. NVA is Loudon. The point is to be seen. The ECNL/GA ID sessions will have a lot of kids competing for limited roster spots. |
thanks. Are you getting seen by the right people? We have done super y before but it felt like a waste of time vs using the summer to reenergize and strengthen in other areas. Our team was mid level competitive so maybe that’s why we didn’t love. I’ve seen people do this now that you mention it, so maybe you are right. I just don’t love super y tbh. |
This is a horrible idea. The Super Y coaches are typically third or fourth team coaches. |
this is what I thought. So what’s the alternative? |
Super Y is how my kid who is now U15 started her ECNL journey at U13. Didn’t come from a feeder club but tried out for Super Y. |
Not true at most clubs. Super-y will get you looks for sure at almost all of them especially with tryouts coming before ECNL tryouts. In fact, most clubs use it as a recruiting to. You might have to commit the summer to them before knowing if you made their actual ECNL team but it might be worth it if they are showing extra interest. |
did you kid make super y and then ecnl or super y then switch pre ecnl or super y and stay with club? Hopefully that makes sense. The timing of tryouts and clubs can be tricky |
Made the super y team but not the ECNL team at U13. Made at U14 and now playing U15. |
| There will be a lot of movement on ECNL/GA teams between U13-U15. Players move to different clubs, some drop out due to other interests and the time/money/travel commitment. At these ages the most important things are good coaching, development, and playing time. Go where you get these even if it’s not ECNL/GA. Do super y and offseason programs to stay on their radar and you’ll be in good shape to join a team at U15 if not sooner. Contact coaches in Jan/Feb about joining practices. You don’t want the first time to be seen at a tryout because it’s hard to stand out and team will already be mostly known by then. If you are willing to commute further there are enough ECNL/GA teams in the area so most serious players can find one. |
| After Super Y tryouts my kid was invited to train with several clubs last spring. Don't know if the rules have changed since that point. |
The alliances definitely make it tricky but Directors should have a general idea of what they are looking for. They’ll always take someone better but if they know a group is weak then they know they need to find others to fill in. |
| Some private trainers work with a lot of ECNL/GA kids. They know the club coaches and will put in a word for your kid if they’re training with them and have the talent. |
would you mind sharing some of the trainers to look at? |
Talent or mutually beneficial $$$ ?? |
