This was my thought! Makes me like her as a person, and she is probably going to keep playing for fun for life, which is a great way to stay healthy and make friends.

She needs to figure out what to do to take on a leadership role. Captain of JV is better than bench warmer on V.

Even as a senior, she is still on JV. She was pretty good and had decent playing time in 9th. She is generally athletic - in good shape, runs well, good ball skills. She goes to all the practices and games and overall is a fine player - nothing great, but not bad either. Is it weird to still be playing JV as a senior? Is this due to DD not working hard enough or not great coaching?

That really seems like something that she should decide and you should support. I think a lot of kids would get discouraged but if your kid is tough enough that it doesn't bother her, I would expect great things from her.

You can try your best at something and still not be great at it.

Sometimes it just depends on how many other seniors are on the team. If there are several seniors on the team who are better then it isn't surprising. And if she isn't tall and hasn't grown since 9th grade that is another issue in basketball. How tall is she?

Agree. Honestly it makes no difference. Maybe one of those girls will go play in college if any. What matters is keeping active and being part of a team and playing!

She is at an independent girl’s school. They can do what they want to do.
