What’s the process for removing FCPS board members?

No. Vhsl found wrongdoing. FCPS ignored the decision of the governing body and stood behind Hayfield. Just because I’m a democrat doesn’t mean I agree with everything the members are doing. I would never support a recall but letting them know I think I they are wrong is very reasonable and not a maga move.

Almost every parent agrees with VHSL and disagrees with Reid and the SB

It's not a thankless job if you view it as the launching point of your glorious political career.

It's only thankless when you try to actually do the job.

How Ryan treated it his first go round

How Ryan is treating is partially this go round

That said, I really don’t like Ryan but I can’t deny his statement about how it all reached unacceptable behavior levels and people need to be held accountable gotta say for once, I’m with him

Did you ever think that "Let's see how many prom dates with high school students I can rack up" Ryan McElvan would come back to the school board as one of the only responsible adults on the board?

No no I did not expect that at all but here we are. 🤷‍♂️

As I was preparing to vote for the guy, I basically had this exact though. Never thought prior to 2019 that the board elected then would make any prior recent FCPS SB members look good. But it managed to do just that.

Yes! She must live in quite a bubble to not realize how tone deaf that email was---no one agrees with her besides the Overton clown car.

I’ll edit that for you. Stop voting strictly for one political party. You shouldn’t vote for the school board down party lines.

This is not a political issue. If anything, this has been the one issue that has united people. It’s just wrong. -voted for Trump and am against how this was handled.

Soon after schools reopened I was approached about running for school board by someone connected with the local democratic party. I know why they approached me and since this is an anonymous forum I'll skip being humble and say that I would make a good candidate based on a number factors. I didn't consider it for a second, I didn't even go through the exercise of thinking it over. Watching how the current school board members and their families are and have been treated by the larger community, regardless of what I think about their politics or policies, makes running the last thing I would ever consider doing. Which is sad, because I genuinely believe that serving in public office at the most local level is something that I would be proud to do and do well. But I will not put myself or my family through the nightmare of the personal attacks I have seen over the last few years. If we want qualified people to run for office to truly serve our students with the best of intentions, then we all need to show a hell of a lot more respect for those people as human beings.

I can't respect a guy that swears on those 5 books. My kid is seriously disturbed by what he read in "Homegoing." It is being used as a text this quarter by a teacher. The majority of these kids have never even kissed someone, and now they have to read very explicit sex scenes. I don't even care if these books are in the school library, but kids shouldn't be forced to read them.

I just read half of the plot summary on Wikipedia. This sounds like a book being read in IB English 11 or 12 or IB Anthro or IB Sociology

Maybe African-American History class possible. But after that at any other level, seems weird.

So if your kid is in some other class then okay. But if your kid is in those classes then maybe your kid needs to seriously think about the classes they register for to be “disturbed” by humans being human.

Sorry what???
I almost spit out my tea!

What in the world would make you think “MAGA” activists have their sites set on installing their “cronies” into fcps school board positions?! Everyone knows that isn’t possible. It’s even impossible for a moderate, non-lefty liberal to get on this school board.

Who cares about HS football? This isn’t rural Texas.

The #openfcps got more than enough signatures to recall 3 school board members. A judge favorable to fcps threw it out on a technicality.
