This and also some of those categories can help improve racial diversity. CC and ROTC students tend to be more racially diverse than private school graduates, so even if you want to criticize Brown's overall diversity, it's weird to get salty about this aspect which helps improve it. Class and age diversity can also impact school culture in a way that makes it more welcoming to people of different races because it breaks up the hegemony that wealthy white and Asian culture often holds over elite universities. It leads to a broader variety of voices and opinions in class and across campus which is helpful if you are a racial minority on campus and want to feel like you fit in. |
