Will Janey return to DCPS if Gray wins?

I'd be shocked if they did not have joint custody. Most custody agreements have language forbidding relocation without the other parent's written consent. As for her marriage altering things, I could see her wanting a less demanding job so she can commute back and forth. That's hardly 1950s retro-thinking! It's postmodern practical.

Even if she wasn't engaged (no wedding date yet, remember?), there is still nothing in her CONTRACT that says she has to stay. I'm not buying the "vote for me or she goes" threat of Fenty. And I'm not convined, nor would I care, if she leaves for personal. I do agree that there is a double standard for women's career choices, but that has nothing to do with the election issues.

I am of the opinion that Kevin Johnson has higher aspirations and wants to come to DC. He can only go so far in Sacramento.

It's beneath DCUM mothers to assume a bi-coastal marriage implies the female must join the male. That out of the way, keep the facts in mind: Rhee only waltzed in overnight to a free enterprise, with no school board or rules and without the headache of the OFM (Office of Facilities Management, for the younger set, now known as OPEFM, Office of Public Education Facilities Modernization under Allen Lew). Also minus the headache of a dreary, cumbersome Board of Ed. As an active parent for many years, the whole point was the elected DC Council members from each ward made much more sense for oversight of the DCPS. So they have it but much was withheld constantly by Fenty. We elected the mayor, and more specifically, we all elected our ward council reps. We all did not ELECT Rhee, yet she ran the show, right into the ground.

Interesting thought, pp! You may be on to something there.
