Will running XC negatively impact kid who plays sprint sports

Muscle recovery and rest are likely built into most programs. You don't get optimal development doing a distance event right after lifting for example.

We did distance training as part of our preseason training usually twice a week we would run several miles, in addition to scrimmaging, lifting and sprint work. Though most of the work was in high rep sprinting.
