These are all things I do with my teen. Nails and coffee are her fave.

We also go to,Sephora or a bit of shopping but usually only for her. Hahaha.

We watch some tv shows together. Sometimes I pick and sometimes she does. We just watched Disclaimer which was, in her opinion, mid.

Frankly sometimes we just go on a minor errand together like cvs.

We also have been known to hit the McDonald’s or Taco Bell drive through 1-2 times a month. That’s how I discovered Taco Bell has Cinnabon donut holes as dessert that are delicious.

+1

Yep same. Pretty much could’ve written this. We watch tv shows together (usually stuff DH and DS are not interested in lol). We run errands or browse at Sephora etc and will get Starbucks or other treat after. Once in awhile we go to a movie just the two of us. Just little things.

Just to say, spending whatever time together winds up being fun.

I used to go with my dad on rides to a) look at used cars from private sellers for him to dream up buying and b) go suit shopping. I can still find a 42 long suit on a Marshall’s rack faster than anyone.

You will also spend some good time together doing the required 40-60 driving hours for the learner’s permit when they are 15-16.

We like to go thrifting, then lunch or boba depending on time of day.
Biking on a nice day.
Paddle boarding in the summer.

My mom and I saw lots of musicals and did frequent manicures/pedicures. Also went to Barnes and Noble for browsing and Starbucks.

Can’t wait to start this with my now toddler daughters! But agree her interests should guide you.

Start now with your toddlers, either together or one on one. Go play in the Barnes and noble kid section and then stop for a cake pop or something at Starbucks if that’s your thing.

These little rituals are so special.

I love this post.

My DD and I love to go for a little treat (that's what she calls it) at a new place we've never tried.

Latest was Magnolia Dessert Bar in Vienna, it was cute and we thought the desserts were delicious. it was a long drive for us, but that's great because she seems to like chatting on our long drives.

My DD and I love to go to see something at a museum downtown and for lunch, especially when other members of the family are occupied with football.
If you want to try this, pick out a specific exhibit to go see so its not an overwhelming and exhausting march around the whole museum.
The current Banksy x Basquiat show at the Hirshorn might be interesting for a teen. Also, the Rubell museum would be a good fit.

NP and don’t forget, the local high schools have a lot of great plays and musicals. DD and I like going to them! Sometimes we bring her friends, sometimes we don’t.

Soup kitchen or other volunteering. We regularly do all the other stuff, like nails, coffee, mall but the volunteering time feels really nice and the good feeling continues longer afterwards
