| Beef fat is a much different flavor than turkey. You can always add some tallow or pork fat to fry the turkey in to add some extra flavor. Personally I’m not a huge fan of turkey chili, but it’s probably more the texture than the taste. |

It tastes like sadness.
I use half venison, which is very lean but has flavor, to make healthier chili. |
Where do you buy venison? Do you have to grind it yourself? |
My dad kills it for me, though I can if I needed to. Yes, we process everything. |
| I only use ground chicken for anything I used to use ground beef for. With some seasonings it tastes juicier and better, especially better than ground turkey but also better than ground beef. I had a ground beef burger for the first time in at least a year or two last week and it was not nearly as good as the ground chicken cheeseburgers I make at home. I also use it for chili and it's great! |
| Yes. Beef has taste. Ground turkey doesn’t. None. Zero. Zip. Pointless. Waste of time. Gross. Disgusting. Pitiful. Pathetic. |
| Turkey is better for white chili. |
| I sometimes do half beef and half turkey. Beef definitely tastes better, but the turkey is healthier. |
| We use ground turkey rather than ground beef for everything except burgers. Like others said, more spices are needed for flavor, but for sloppy Joe's, chili, shepherds pie, egg roll in a bowl, etc., it's more healthy, so that's what we do |
Turkey definitely has a taste. I think it’s gamier than beef — I can taste it in a bad way thru the chili. I think ground chicken blends in better—texture is mushier but it will absorb the flavors better. |
+1. Ground Turkey absolutely has a gamier taste and even with more seasonings it is still unpleasant to our family. |
| I make both and cannot tell the difference but I also don’t use the super lean turkey. Try the 85% lean instead. My picky kids cannot taste the difference. Maybe the issue some of you are having is a bad recipe? |

Ground turkey is vile. I’ve tried every kind, from the free-range to the conventional. Dark meat, white meat, both mixed together. It all smells terrible and tastes worse.
Ground chicken is fine in that it tastes like whatever you season it with. Dark meat ground turkey is not significantly healthier than lean ground beef, anyway, and ground turkey breast is just dry and grey and sad. |
| Go ahead and use ground turkey if you want to ruin your chili. |
