Does ground turkey chili taste different than ground beef chili?

Anonymous
Thinking of swapping beef for turkey but does it change the taste in your opinion? Or do the seasonings make each taste identical?

Yes it changes the taste

It changes it, but it tastes better with other things. Like I love putting sweet potatoes in my turkey chili but would never do that with ground meat.

This recipe is really good. https://www.skinnytaste.com/no-bean-turkey-and-sweet-potato-chili/

I only make turkey chili. Healthier. We like it.

Maybe a little. But it’s actually better than ground beef turkey. Try it!

Turkey is (no surprise) drier than beef, so I think turkey chili lends itself well to a more southwest chili style, like deer valley chili, with masa. It’s lighter and really delicious!

I use the premade mix, but you can make your own as well

Yes, but my husband can’t tell.

It tastes and smells very different. We aren’t turkey fans in general and neither DH nor the kids will eat ground Turkey in any recipe.

Agreed. I usually add more spices when using turkey. That said, it's not so much of a difference that anyone would complain

Ground chicken has a consistency more similar to beef if the softer turkey texture bothers you.

I’m allergic to mammal so we do everything poultry, but spouse and kids willingly go along with it in everything except burgers.
