The only reason he didn’t apply early was because HS counselor basically said nobody from the high school (other than athletic recruits) ever gets accepted. Felt it was a throwaway early. |
| Ivy interviews are inconsequential. Keeping alumni engaged for donations, no one is getting in due to a great interview. They’ve all said they are low stake. Only Yale has shared they use for learning more about certain candidates and used example of a kid claiming obscure interest, they may fact check that in an interview or try to piece together something unclear in application. |
| The Penn interview is literally meaningless. No longer considered whatsoever…though I assume if you say the candidate gave indications of committing a horrific crime or spewed racist insults during the interview that maybe the AI would flag that. |

Quick turnaround! Good luck to your kid. |
| Is this Yale? |
Have you spent any time here whatsoever? From what I can tell, it is the dearest dream of nearly every poster on DCUM to let you know your kid is not as good as they need to be. This is a toxic cess pool of anonymous “advice”. |
True for yale, and this is how Duke is for RD, for ED it is everyone if possible. Other elites interview everyone possible for all rounds. |
| I’ve interviewed dozens of kids for Princeton over the years. None have been accepted. |
| In most cases it's part of keeping alums engaged. |
That's crazy. |
Did you have a role in that? Were there any you really advocated for admission? |
+1 million -Former alum interviewer for my top ivy |
| My kid had Harvard and Yale interviews. Did not get in. It was still exciting and we took it as a good sign for Yale at the time. Oh well. Current sophomore and super happy at their T15 school. GL! |
| My Yale was deferred early without interview, rejected in the end. Had all the other interviews too. There is a sliver of hope, it just doesn’t hinge on the interview. Good luck! |
