Will study more and take again. Also going to take a serious look at ACT now.

did he finish the math 2 module?
my dd is getting seriously depressed over this s...t

Yes, he finished math 2, but said he had to guess on the last 2 because there was no time left.

how did your kids do? should we cancel before we get the score?

Unless the student is applying to Georgetown, the only college that requires all scores to be reported, there would be no reason to cancel.

Georgetown isn’t the only one. George Washington also requires you to report all sittings, and you can’t self report. MIT allows self report but says “Students should self-report scores from all exams taken, and MIT will consider the super-score in our review process”.

Where does GWU state this, exactly?

mine had enough to do all the work and check all the work. thought math was "okay" and reading was "good". He had 750/750 in august so this is last one. Only going it bcs he was already registered and thought he could do better in reading

there are different versions of the test.

MIT's "should" is for superscoring purposes only; it is not "requires" or "must." Anyone wanting clarification should call an AO and ask, because it's just not true that all are required for MIT.

DD said math was “doable.” So not really sure if that’s good or bad. This was her first attempt.

This makes me feel so much better. My 9th grader took it for the first time. He has accommodations but somehow it didn't show up on the blue book. Yet he was in the accommodations room. I'll have to figure that out on Monday.

He's currently in precalc. He said some of the questions were things he's never seen before. I was surprised because I thought the exam only covered through Alg II. Math is his strong suit and he didn't finish all the questions. He said the RW was fine and finished all the questions without rushing.

My son also took it today. He says that if your kid didn’t finish, they may be using their calculator when it’s much faster to use desmos, the calculator website built into the test. He said there was one problem where it would’ve taken a long time to do by hand or with a TI, but he could do it in a minute with desmos.

Why did your 9th grader want to take the official SAT?

My daughter took August and October and said today’s math section was the easiest she’s had

If you don't do well in the initial section, the test gives you easier questions and your score tops out at a lower # so could be that.

The kid is in precalc. The year after Algebra 2 is a good year to take it.

DP. They are likely to improve later on both sections, as their language skills improve.

Will colleges even accept SAT scores from 9th grade?

Poster from above. Yes, my kid says desmos is key. Also said he didn't know about some linear regression hack using desmos. Now, he knows.

It's absolutely ridiculous that kids are having to figure out hacks, tips and tricks on youtube for this test. Are they learning how to deeply do math and reading or how to stupidly get a question correct.

Most will, yes, but it is rare that a student will score their highest potential score in 9th. They'll end up taking it again later anyway. There is little point in taking an official sitting so early. Wait till August of junior year, with prep the summer before. Any proper test prep will help them remember the math they learned in middle school.

Mine said the same - ran out of time before he could do the last 2 questions in 2nd math module - but he said one of them was not multiple choice, so he didn't guess at that one. Also had the same issue others noted about a strange question set up that he thought was either a mistake or a "test" question for College Board. Don't different kids get different questions based on how they are doing on the test? He's hoping those were the only 3 he got wrong but who knows. He thought the verbal was fine.
