Yes this. She might need to rest the knee for a bit. It's tough! |

Agree with Osgood Schlatter.
A break will help. The compression sleeve might help, too, but honestly, rest is good. |

Definitely look at her shoes and make sure they’re new or at least replace within the past three months.
My kid who runs track and cross-country has to replace his season because of the amount of running. Also, he had to switch from Nike to Brooks, as Recommended by his podiatrist. |
| If it’s Osgood schlatter, yes to rest as others have said- my kid had to stop running as it really flared it up. There’s a number of PT exercises you can do, as well as stretching, that can really help if you can get them to do it… |

Hi everyone this is OP. I actually think it’s something called PatelloFemoral knee pain based on my google searches lol. I looked up Osgood Schlatter and talked to DD about it and she says the pain is above the kneecap on the outside part of the knee. OS causes pain below the kneecap.
I wouldn’t have found this without all your helpful suggestions though. I’m going to take her to the doctor next week though to see what they say. Looks like treatment is the same. Rest, ice, heat, ibuprofen. The type I think she has is more prevalent in girls apparently. |
| Osgood- Schlatter. Buy a patella strap at CVS and make sure she wears it. It is self-limiting, meaning she won't make it any worse by continuing to play but pain may stop her from playing. She will outgrow it. |
| Just read your update - the patella strap will also help with patella femoral syndrome. |
This. But I’ll also add that my cross country kid’s pain turned out to be due to improperly fitted shoes. Took him to a running store, got him new shoes after an assessment, and on his next run all pain disappeared. |
It’s not that you moron did you read what she just wrote |
