Senior Skip Day Today

Anonymous
Have heard nothing about it, but also find it super strange. It's the last week of the quarter, so there are many tests, re-takes, reviews, etc that seniors wanting to lock in good Q1/S1 grades won't want to miss. Nov. 1 is the EA deadline that has many still working on wrapping up applications. They get two days off already next week. And if they really want a day off this week, why wouldn't it be Friday, the day after halloween, with all its scary movie watching and parties, etc. If I asked my senior if they wanted to take a day off this week if they could, it would no doubt be Friday.

Wait, the school actually permits kids to skip? It's not just kids deciding on their own? That is messed up.

Not at my kid's school. Isn't senior skip day an end of year thing? The end of the first quarter seems a little early for it!

That’s ridiculous. It’s one day in the spring which is why Admin/Teachers/and parents don’t stress over it. If folks were making it one day a quarter I’d support teachers giving no makeups on missed work.

Kids should be in class. Skip day leads to smoking doobie which leads to cocaine, heroin, and then jail for serious crimes. It’s a vicious spiral that starts with skipping class.
