Unfortunately, I think that admission's officers at these types of schools probably look at JD Vance, Ted Cruz, Stefanik, etc. as the type of students who should not be admitted today. To them, they probably think that the school enabled their "rise" and ithat the school is complicit in giving platforms to "abhorrent" people.

Not making that mistake again means filtering out the next generation of right wing thinkers. From their world view, they are doing the world a great service.

While not every admission's officer is going to be from a background in the humanities, if you have a child doing a Republican/righ-wing internship, advocacy or leadership position, I would really think twice about putting that down as an EC. Too much to lose and probably very little to gain. Obviously this isn't for every school, but for SLAC's, the Boston schools, Emory, WashU, etc. it does apply.

A 22 year old working PT in admissions does not make the ultimate decision on whether your kid is admitted. But even if they it’s certainly fine for admissions to make decisions based on moral character. People who support a felon and a rapist are nothing but trouble for a college campus. 1A gives you the right to have the opinion. It doesn’t protect you from any consequences of the opinion imposed by private institutions.

All of those people were country club conservatives when they were admitted. All were admitted pre-MAGA. This thread isn’t about country club conservatives. It’s about MAGA, which is not conservative. It’s more nativist populist fascist. I’m sure country club conservatives are fine. Rape supporting fascism, on the other hand….
