Contemplating ear piercing - bad idea?

Why wouldn't you care at 60 that you have a hole in your ear? You think 60 year olds don't care how they look?

This is not true.

if you don't like it you can take it out. the hole is not going to interfere with anything

I think they can look good at any age if done tastefully.

Can your hair cover your ear? If so, then I wouldn't worry too much about the healing time. During healing, my ear piercings (6 in all) always got red and inflamed. YMMV.

Had my nose done 20+ years ago and it formed a big red bump while healing. Even visited my PCP at the time and he said that he sees it all the time. I just had no idea to expect that!

Healing at 40 is different than healing at 20, IME.

This is the only correct answer.

No it's not. Where did you get that idea? Did you develop some kind of a blood disorder?

Yes, it is.

I got two cartilage piercings when my daughter had her lobes done. It was a fun experience together! They did take 9-12 months to fully heal, which was a pain. I would consider more but not sure if I’m up for only sleeping on one side, especially now that perimenopause has started affecting my sleep.

Because OP will look at the hole and think: I was a badass making decisions for myself at age 50 and I have no regrets. Maybe I will wear some jewelry in that hole today.

It may take a long time to help the older you are. Keep that in mind.

I got it done at 35. Ended up taking it out a year later. The hole really isn't that noticable.
