I think it’s a very rude response. If I disapproved of someone’s mode of employment or just thought it dull, I would nod and smile blandly, and steer the conversation to another topic.

It’s kinda rude and aggressive. There’s no need to run down something the other person likes or does for work. It would make me not want to share with those people, because I’d be expecting this negative and dismissive response.

Not all thoughts need to be said out loud.
