Correct. |
| Wow! Really? Because the opposing team had some amazing players and they weren’t being scouted. So it’s the coaches that have the pull then? |
I do think someone posted earlier that other players may be noticed. But I also think what some people thing are good players may not be something that a scout is looking for. What was amazing about these players that you think a scout should have noticed them too? |
| The players on the opposing team that I noticed were technical but also had size and speed. Great possession and also some physicality. We knew who they were looking at on our team and he preformed by scoring as he often does but lacks stamina and some of the stuck-in-ness I see in others. But if they want a huge kid who can play spot minutes and score then they were scouting the right kid I guess. |
Maybe they go by coach and club reputation? What we may consider good technical skills may not be good enough compared to other known clubs and those coach’s recommendations for technically skilled players? As unfair perhaps it is for coaches and clubs to hold this much sway, it’s just more efficient to rely on tried and true recommendations. Even if a kid is noticeably good, it begs the question as to why hasn’t that kid been recommended? Perhaps scouts can rely on how long coaches have known a player as well and can vouch for their consistency? I don’t have answers, just throwing in some thoughts . |
Sounds like sour grapes a little? “They want a huge kid who can score…” Yes, yes they do! They can build stamina easily with training in a short amount of time. A big kid who can score is much harder to come by… yes they want to look at a kid who will affect the game. |

Scouts are going by coach's recommendations. They have list in hand and know who they are narrowing down to. They are looking for players for specific positions.

If anyone took a look at the roster for the ID, you could see what a joke it is and it is clearly based off recommendation and not talent.
|
So you know all those boys personally and believe they are not good enough to make the list? |
|
The roster for the recent ID camps were filled with very talented, committed players. The idea that the selected kids are not talented is ridiculous.

Go watch any of the 2011 Achilles games. |

Don't loop the rest of the invites into a blanket statement. It doesn't serve these players to negate their efforts on account of 1 team.

| OP here - feel like this has gone off the rails not in a good way. My initial question has been answered - thank you! |
