There was a recent thread but seemed to focus more on the girls.
I know that the invites start at U14 and that coaches make recommendations. Anyone know how many they make and how many are actually invited? Also once they’re invited, do USYNT scouts come to their games? Or look at highlights? Or just go off from coaches recommendations? |
|
A couple from each club around here. They already came out in the spring and watched some of your games. They will come out to some games/ tournaments until spring.
They def go off of coaches recommendation but I've also seen they grab one that not recommended by a coach as well. |
Thank you, I appreciate the insight. Does the recommending coach give their players the heads up that they’ve been recommended? |
|
The club coach sends one of his favs players along with his closest friends.m, those who pass the ball to Johnny the fav. Time moves on and the coach keeps sending the same players over and over, no change even when Johnny doesn’t make great effort to excel. The YNT scout and whole system have it easy, they get the players CHOSEN by the mediocre coach. Did you see USMNT lost to a mediocre Mexican team yesterday? The US system has it easy, they have families paying for what they believe is their DC development, etc. CLUB coaches doing recruitment for the YNT through IDcamps. The results don’t lie. soccer is full of BS, a mafia, lies, and that’s why many players quit. |
So the USYNT scout has no say on the selection? That they just rubber stamp the recommendation and watching games are just a formality? |
wouldn't say rubber stamp but there is no transparency in the process. |
| When do invites come out? |
They came out a couple weeks ago |
| The scouts do have a say. Especially for the next camp. |
For sure. It sounds like to get an invite to the local ID session is heavily dependent on coach recommendations. But to get an invite to the Regional ID camp will depend on the USYNT scouts in part based on the players performance at the local ID session. It does not seem like the recommending coach may not have much of a say in that decision but a PP seem to think so? |
| Why does it matter, you won't make it on the USYNT unless you play on an MLS academy team. |
An invite will help you get on an MLS Academy. Or get interest from other youth national teams (if holding more than one passport) and for college recruiting. |
Good point. |
| We had a scout at a recent game and he was looking at a player(s) from the other team. Does that mean even if someone is exceptional that the scout is not tasked with that player won’t be noticed? |
