Same. One of those situations where I wish I could have my kid stay with a relative for a few days and then take some kind of medication that would make me near-catotonic until it's over. Same. We have one teen doing AP Gov, and the other in college in International Affairs and Politics. He's coming home to vote that day! I have to plan for something they both like.

At this point you think everything people do differently than you is tacky.

Marking the historic day is not tacky in any way. There may be nothing to celebrate or deplore, since there might not be a winner that night. But people are understandably jittery, so whatever special comfort food they want to pick for dinner is certainly not tacky.
