Washing Bottle Parts

Never use plastic bottles by the way.

i'm not the OP but i don't think this is a crazy ask... as an exclusive pumper i pumped into spectra bottles 8x a day and then would have baby drink out of dr. brown anti colic (she had bad colic and reflux)... and we bought enough of the pump parts so that we could just wash them at end of day but iw as 8 sets of flanges, shields, etc. whenever i complain about how rough that time was my husband immediately jokes how hard it was for him with all the bottles. if we had the money i'm sure he would've loved to outsource that task (and it was way to much to run the dishwasher- would take more than the top rack alone, and our dishwasher is slow to dry so if we did it at night would risk still being wet next am unless we used extra hot dryer setting which i'd be hesitant to do with plastic baby bottles)

I have pumped and nursed three kids with a demanding job and I use the dishwasher, but also have a bottle brush (my youngest is 16 months and we are almost done nursing). The pump parts are annoying but a task like this does not take very long. Can your husband or nanny help?

+1. Totally this. Run the dishwasher before you go to bed and unload it. Don’t use extra hot dry setting.

I am just constantly running the dishwasher. Why not do that?

You don’t need to use tons of sets of pump parts! Just stick them in the fridge between uses for at least half the day. So a morning set and afternoon set that go in dishwasher overnight and then an overnight set at most. Put in storage bags (that you toss after use) and reuse the collection bottles for the same time period. Did this with 3 kids - I’m ALL about hiring things out to make life easier but this one doesn’t have to be as hard as you’re making it

If you have cats, be sure to always check for them before starting the dishwasher.
Cats love to get in them.
