| I will never understand the parents who willingly host after parties. It's a liability landmine and the house always gets trashed. |
A party in the woods is a lot different. |
| I was initially against the party bus rental but it actually makes sense. The kids all get on the bus and the bus then takes them everywhere for the night…dinner…monuments…dance…etc. Everyone stays together and you don’t have 8 cars of kids driving all over the place . Ends up running around 30-40 dollars a kid |
Hmm how about this? They just go to the f’ing dance and stop all the other crap. You saying it is only $40 more per kid on top of dress, accessories, dinner, dance tickets, is ridiculous. It’s homecoming. Even all of this for prom is ridiculous. But homecoming?!? |
What HS was involved? Does anyone know? |
What are YOU spending on these dances? Dress 70-80 Accessories…jewelry she already has Dinner..20 a kid (they order food and a parent hosts) Dance tickets 30 Bus 40 Boutonnière 16 Total: ~200 all in For 2 dances a year well worth it |
It is homecoming. Why even dress up??! Go in your school's t-shirt or colors. At the monuments? Lol only in DmV. |
The monuments is my daughter’s favorite part of the night. Everyone meets up there and she has fun taking pictures with friends who are going with different groups and the pictures do turn out really nice. Then everyone splits up, and meets back up at the dance for a bit |
Not just in the DMV, based on homecoming pics from friends across the US. I think it is sweet & a nice rite of passage to go to homecoming. You get one childhood. |
| Is it just a girl thing? All the post I see online pretty much are girls playing dress up and not even going to the dance itself. |
Admittedly I grew up in a big Southern Baptist area - our after parties were fun, but dry. |
What high school? This sounds fun. |
+2 Buses of kids at the Lincoln Memorial? What is this for? Photos or something? |
What? Teenagers "across the US" are not bussing to national monuments. |
At our Northeast private school the kids vote on the theme and they NEVER pick one involving dressing up. They always pick the most ridiculous thing like dress like a pirate or outer space or 1970s. Doors open for the dance at 7, doors are locked at 7:15, doors reopened at 9:30 to let them all out. If you buy a ticket and don’t show up, the deans office calls your parents. We don’t have issues with kids trashing monuments in limo buses and mommies whining that they didn’t get invited to the photo shoot. |
