I'm super sick of every website offering 10% off if I get on their never ending email spam list.
|
I've decided that when they ask me to sign up for a credit card, I am going to say "can you give me $100 right now"? If they are going to ask me unsolicited questions, I will ask unsolicited questions. |
you are missing the point. |
And they’ve started requiring your phone number for that too. |
| I only do it for a coupon code or some other incentive. |
| Tipping and reviews are optional. Why would you let them stress you out? |
NP— it doesn’t cause stress, it’s just so annoying. Every single interaction these days, including every check out at the grocery store. And many places don’t give up. I get a survey after every doctors appt, and like 5 follow ups for each visit. I’ve had multiple visits recently, so every day I get multiple reminders/requests. And god forbid I actually give some honest feedback. Then I get phone calls asking information about why I didn’t rate them 10 out of 10 on every question. |
| I’m sending you a giant chapstick for your ass in exchange for your post.grow some skin and patience. It’s ok to ignore requests. Requests are simply that, not a requirement. |
Whoa there. Maybe you need a jar of petroleum for your own ass! OP was just venting about something that annoys the majority of people posting here. I do agree that all you have to do is say a polite, "No thanks" to any request and go about your business. That's what I do. I also do the same for requests for my phone number or email, "Sorry, I don't give that out." While a 10% off coupon might be nice I am not loyal to any particular merchandiser so it's of no real value to me. Keeping my contact info as private as possible is worth more. What does annoy me is when I've politely told the clerk "No thanks" and they continue to badger me. One clerk confessed to me that corporate requires them to ask 3 times. Usually, after the first time I've said no thanks, I just ignore them and don't respond at all. They usually get the hint. |
| I just completely ignore. This new society is really hard for people who can’t say no, but it’s fine for those of us who can. And I tip 3 kinds of people only- sit down restaurant servers, hair stylists, and nail technicians. Everyone else can pound sand. |
You don't get emails? I just got two from my mammogram last week. Two! |
Same here. It’s always something like “Children’s Education.” Never a name of a specific charity. Ridiculous. |
| In a similar vein, I am annoyed by the grocery store asking to give to charity while I am trying to pay for the already overpriced groceries. |
DP. Yes! I had kind of a bad experience at my car dealership when I took it in for maintenance. I decided to respond when they emailed me about a review. The manager then called me and was VERY testy and argumentative - clearly, he wasn’t trying to smooth anything over. He called me again the following week. I felt harassed by then, so I no longer go there. I should never have bothered with the review, but at least I found a place I like better. |
What's even worse is the website that email you just because you LOOKED at something on their website and didn't buy it, and are not on their email list! Like, I have a Loft account because I do shop there, but I am NOT on their email list, and they will still email me and say "These things you were looking at are still available but going fast!" or whatever. I did NOT give them permission to contact me about that. Airlines do the same thing, when you are just browsing at flights. |
