A lot of American Jews had an illusion that things are different here than in say, England or France. But I think that illusion was shattered in the last year with the surge in anti-Semitism.

While it doesn't mean Jews are conservative, I think the default position that the liberal-left are friends of Jews is eroding.

Anecdotally it seems the events of last year have strengthened Jewish identity.

Jew here this is BS

I am a reform Jew and now since Trump
And the stupids I will never vote for a Republican again. Because I have a brain. Nothing to do with being left.

Your so called take of leftists is an extremely small minority of Jews. Less than the cult Jews like Chabad or Lubbies or Hasidic who are stunningly gross for supporting Republicans the party of Nazis.

I support Israel full on but I am an American First .

The OP is crazy. Listen to Harris, she is very specific in supporting, without question, the Israeli people in their defense. She was pretty candid in suggesting Netanyahu is the problem, and I could not agree more.

I am more concerned about the nativist anti-Jewish rhetoric from the neo-KKK, Marge Greene types than I am for people who support the Palestinians. And yes, I distinguish between the plight of Palestinian people and Hamas, who should not be supported on any level.

Not a big Netanyahu fan myself but how is he "the problem" in this situation? Israel has a right to defend itself and stop those who seek to annilhilate the Jewish state.

Yeah. I couldn't agree more. I'm glad he annihilated and maimed all of those kids. Sucks to suck children. Should've been born somewhere else.

It goes far beyond college campuses. It is right in your children’s high schools here in the DMV.

How do you feel about your children sitting in class next to public high school students like this?

So how does "Israel can defend itself but not with Netanyahu as PM" work in the real world?

Adopt Christianity. Learn to turn the other cheek. Make the world better. Die Martyrs...

You pick.

OP, you are not going to get much constructive discussion as this board is full of pro-terrorist trolls.

DP. Funny that you refuse to blame Hamas in any way for this. Very telling.

I'm not Jewish, but the ridiculous amount of my money going to pay interest to China as we spend money on Israel's behalf to bomb children. It triggers me.

DP. I actually think it's great what we're doing over there. One less mouth to feed means greater food supply and lower inflation for me, less global warming, higher quality food due to overuse of agricultural land, cheaper oil. When non Americans are oppressed, I win.

Don't lie and act like you don't harbor these natural feelings deep down. You want lower inflation. You want to have a cheap nanny take care of your kids. Your liberal leftist guilt can't hide how you feel about the day to day change in your life.

In 2008, Obama won 78% of the Jewish vote. No Democrat would get that share today (Obama lost a fair amount of Jewish support in 2012).

Biden got around 70%.

I expect the downward trend to continue, and I'm guessing Kamala Harris to get around 65%.

How could anyone forget the Jewish space lasers?

MTG is of course ridiculous, but it's not like most Jews are giving the Republicans a free pass.

The lesson is Jews need to assert themselves as an independent force. No blind loyalty to either party.

Honestly, after seeing what happened to Hezbollah and those pagers, I am questioning how far MOSSAD has already gone. I'm starting to wonder if those Qanon folks were on to something or maybe that our vaccine supply was infiltrated. Seriously, my eyes are open to conspiracy theories now because it's so clear that our government is lying full-stop about Israel and Jeffrey Epstein...

It's very difficult, is how it works or doesn't. But the beautiful thing about Judaism is that we have 4,000 years of tradition, of navigating hard, nuanced, problems - and of not being completely eliminated, even when our enemies try to annihilate us.

If you actually talk to and ask questions of a Jewish person you know in real life, in nearly all cases you will find that they are trying to walk this hard tightrope right now.

As a group, we believe in social justice, we are left-leaning, we believe Palestinians deserve to be treated better, we believe Netanyahu is poisonous to peace and to Israel, we want peace, and we also believe Israel has a right to exist - and needs to exist.

Many Israelis believe this, too, by the way.

Not every single person. Not by a long shot. But that's how many if not most of us feel.
