Do Taupe Handbags make your outfit frumpier?

meh. I think taupe or beige bags go with everything, and are "classier" than most bags I see out there. Hate all the hardware, bling, shine, labels, on bags. So over the top, low brow. It screams.."look at me".

There are other options besides taupe and bling. I agree with you about disliking all that stuff too, but taupe is grandma-ish anyway. It’s a step away from mauve.

Besides, OP’s first bag is taupe and blingy, worst of all worlds

OP - seeing as you like luxury brands, I would invest in a warmer color neutral option. And one that isn't so structured - that can definitely add a certain look, depending on how you style it. Slouchy has been working its way back in.

To the person who said chocolate is 70s/out - you're wrong there. Chocolate has been huge the past 2 years.

You don't really need more taupe . I'm the poster who suggested a suede bag. I LOVE this Chloe, as an example https://www.bergdorfgoodman.com/p/chloe-marcie-large-hobo-bag-in-nubuck-calfskin-prod189470081?utm_source=google_shopping&ecid=BGCS_GP_CV_HA_PR_NONE&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwgfm3BhBeEiwAFfxrG2IC3w0RWOvpQK08yHNHBQgt2HDUQmQtH92D4ddyUg-qMCWoPvWbcBoCQ08QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Also a big fan of Loewe. If you want a lighter color neutral, perhaps this green https://www.bergdorfgoodman.com/p/loewe-flamenco-clutch-bag-in-napa-leather-with-golden-foil-anagram-prod184290098?childItemId=BGV644Z_QZ&navpath=cat000000_cat257221_cat428607_cat207300&page=0&position=3&uuid=PDP_PAGINATION_c50140304a2fb5cc3851cf4571a01763_E1S-O-zRkmn2o_kkBiKksFrciphwkCI-wZ2p261n.jsession

Softening your look will definitely modernize. I keep all of my bags, as I get tired of things and then rotate back in a few years later.

13:38 again. Notice that the model has a dark skin tone, and wears simple-looking, dark grey clothes, no patterns. Those are all deliberate choices meant to showcase the pale, clean lines of the bag. It all goes together, in a purist/neutrals/minimalist kind of vibe. But if you're pale-skinned, and the rest of your outfit is also pale-ish, then you're going to look completely washed out with that same bag.

I really like the soft design of your third bag, OP! But I wouldn't choose it in that color. Right now, because of fall, I'm in my earth tones and gold phase. I just made myself some gold-toned dangly earrings with tiger eye gemstone. I have some forest green anchor clothing with which to wear them. My bags right now are deep teal or deep turquoise. I also have a bright yellow sporty one. It's very cheerful on dreary days

I personally dislike that color for accessories and clothing. So blah.

Op here. I am in the brown family and considered dusky. I am particularly between Honey and Golden. Green veins, which I think is warm tone? I’m an NC45 by MAC.

Great! Then taupe works for you. Just make sure to include something that catches the eye in the rest of your outfit.

Maybe I’m getting old but I like to add twilly scarves on my more boring bags. For $20 you can add a little warmth to it.

taupe/beige is the classiest color that goes with everything. It's the style that makes it grandamish, not the color.

I disagree with the other poster that taupe is good for your coloring. It’s too cool for you. I’d aim for something honey or olive.

Taupe and beige are very different. I do like beige for her.

This is true. I'm not a big fan of taupe because it doesn't look good with my skin tone, it just washes me out.

NP. I completely disagree. I love quietly elegant clothing and taupe fits the bill.

Who thinks taupe bags look grandma? It's the opposite to me. All the bags OP posted look really quiet luxury. Like rich ladies in california.

I have a couple taupe bags, and without fail I get compliments every time I wear them. I have literally never gotten a compliment on a black bag in my life. I live in a warm climate, so it may work better in the overall aesthetic here, but I love this look.
