DC is cracking down on unlicensed weed stores after giving them ample opportunity to get licensed. The shady ones will all be gone soon. The DC government may tolerate a lot of stuff, but it doesn't play if it thinks you're withholding revenue:

The concept of DC’s government cracking down on anything is hilariously preposterous.

They are a magnet for harassment and loitering. I don't care if someone wants to sit on the sidewalk but I get tired of having to run a gauntlet of people asking me for something. And I realize a lot of them just want something to eat but unfortunately there are some people who don't leave people alone.

The 7-11 in Cleveland Park apparently had some problems with the people outside because they have cops outside starting from early morning for a few hours.
