How much money do these people make? |
Which is correct. Standards-based grading is the system using ES, P, I, N in elementary school. Wolff should already know that as a longtime board member. |
What even is the point of inflating grades if there is standardized testing? The disparity comes out eventually.
Is it just about buying time? |
Loznak did not in fact answer Brenda's follow-up question on grade inflation. She sat silent and let Taylor jump in. |
Most of those people in Central Office comfortably make 6 figures. I'm sure she makes at least $100,000. |
Loznak is in charge of secondary school instruction. Not elementary, so your point is irrelevant. Try again. |
Because then MCPS spends all of its time discrediting testing and insisting that MCAP is flawed and shouldn't be believed OR that "some kids just don't test well" when AP/IB scores don't match classroom grades. MCPS doesn't want to be accountable, which is why the system fights back against any kind of external standardized testing. |
OK, but she has no say over the grading system, which is in fact set by long-standing BOE policy. If Wolff thinks standards based grading is the solution to grade inflation in HS, what has she done in her two terms on the board to have that policy changed accordingly? Answer: nothing. |
You are, again, dodging the question. The question posed to Loznak was, do you think there's grade inflation? It's a yes or no question. As the person responsible for combing through the results for math in secondary education for MCPS, Loznak should be capable of saying yes or no to that direct question. |
Agree to disagree. Taylor answered it, which was appropriate. |
It provides a data set that looks good to the eye. If a high percentage of black and brown students are failing the majority of their classes, then that's the fault of MCPS. If a high percentage of black and brown students fail a state assessment, you can call the test biased and racist. |
No, teachers don't want parents contacting them. If your Larlo/Larla gets a B or C, they may hear more from parents asking why their kid got that grade, so easier to dish out As for completing an assignment instead of checking for accuracy and understanding. These schools need more qualified teachers in math class - at least two (not just breathing bodies), who can lead small group instruction and provide clarifications. |
Teachers are giving up their lunch time to help students! Help the teachers!!! |
It is all public info. |
