I don’t know why the hate for Georgetown cupcake. I’m a baker and am pretty critical and I think they are pretty decent, although it does depend on which flavor you get. Best ones are the salted caramel one (I don’t see that on their current menu), the coconut, the valrhona chocolate with ganache, and peanut butter fudge.
Looking at their menu now, I think I have to go in December — the monthly specials for December look really really good. Kind of crappy for October and November.

Yuck. No flavor, just sweet moistness.

+1. I am not a baker, but I’m also not at all a sweets person and Georgetown Cupcake are the only ones I will eat. The peanut butter fudge ones are absolutely divine. I used to live in Georgetown and never liked the Baked & Wired ones - way too much frosting and too sweet.

I like Sprinkles cupcakes. They deliver around the DC area if it’s not convenient. Their red velvet cupcake is delicious. Great gluten free options too, if that’s something you need. I get delivery at my house all the way in College Park for a small fee, saves me a trip to Georgetown.

I like Georgetown cupcakes best. I’m a frosting person and like their frostings. Order in advance and it’s ready for pickup. Or get it delivered for $10.

Red Velvet has the best cupcakes: redvelvetcupcakery.com

Georgetown's are okay, but I feel like they're kinda dry.

Baked & Wired are fun, but overly sweet, IMO.

These are delicious. Our favorite used to be Jenny Cakes in Kensington, which closed a few years ago.

Georgetown Cupcakes. Hands down, are the best on every single level. You can even special order ones for parties (like with a specific color, etc.) GC are the prettiest and tastiest and the chocolate and vanilla and all flavors are top quality ingredients compared to everything else.
