| 2030 parents must be super into lacrosse because this event was packed. I have an older daughter and this team was usually made up of B club players looking to get some extra work in. In all seriousness, Im not sure the 2030 age group will give up a goal in a game if they do take the top players who showed up. |
I would agree. It was intense. Filled with Maryland United and Hero’s players which isn’t usually the case. Lots of great players from other teams as well. Could have easily formed one of the best teams in the country with all that talent. |
| Was it just the 2030's that were competitive? What about the other years? |
Other years didn't have as many and didn't have as many top club team players as 2030 |
2030 class is stacked. |

Just got email advising they will release rosters over the next couple of days.
Can anyone explain what this means: We will have 2 positional alternates listed per team and 1 goalie alternate. Once they are posted you will have 24 hours to reserve your spot. |
It means if someone does not accept their spot at the position your kid plays, the alternate gets an offer. That is typically how alternates work. |
So if they take 5 attack, they offer 5 kids, but have 2 on stand up? Wouldn't every kid not offered right away be in theory an alternate? |
No. It means you just missed the cut and were ranked #6 or #7. So if #4 declines, they send an offer to #6 and so on. |
I may be wrong, but I think that means there will be a full team and 2 field players plus a goalie on stand by - alternates. If for some reason one of the team members is unable to attend a tournament, an alternate would be called up. |
From last year's experience, an alternate is one that just missed the cut and only make's the team if another player declines. |
If player A declines and the 1st alternate declines, then do they just not fill the spot? Of course not, they go down the line of every kid that tried out, so again, i don't get the point unless you want to make someone feel good about "almost making the team". BTW, how close will they use the positions. Are they going to take 6 defenders or will they take 2 defenders and 4 middies to fill spots. Lots of kids had middie/attack or middie/defender |
Maybe they practice with the team. Or have on standby and can give direction how often a spot frees up for a tournament. You are working way too hard at this. It's a 7th grade secondary club team. |
I'm surprised how much attention Maryland Select is getting. This has not been the case in the past. If you look at previous rosters, it's mostly been B club players with some A level players sprinkled in. Now it looks like it's pulling from the top clubs in the area. |
Could have something to do with Good Counsel's recent success. |
