Asking for my kids names, ages on rental contract?

You have one of those ' I know it all' husbands.
Those kids are adults. I thought you were talking about underage kids and then maybe you have a case.
They want to know who will be living there for so many reasons.

Yes. Credit, employment verification, etc. All adults residing in the property are responsible for the tenancy.

Of course a landlord is entitled to know who is living in their property.

One of our children is 18 and husband says this is a breach of privacy.

Real estate lawyers- is this legal??

Go tell your husband to do some research.

As a landlord I do not ask the names of who will be living there on the application form but I do let renters know the capacity of the home. I ask for names and dates of birth on the rental contract. I have a clause that anyone living there for more than 2 weeks after tenancy get permission from me first. One tenant negotiated that to 1 month because their mom was planning to stay longer than 2 weeks at a time.

Yea it is legal for the owner of a house to know the names and birth dates of the adults living in it. For background checks, credit checks, occupancy limits, etc.

Why on earth would this upset you?

Go tell your husband to do some research.

He already did his own research.

No, it is not. Sharing the name violtes fair housing. The LL can know the credit score and income verification but they can not know the names.

Well he’s an idiot then. Why are you here if he’s done his stellar research?

They don’t have to rent to nut jobs like you, you know.

You think a landlord doesn’t have a right to know who is living in the apartment?

What? This isn’t universally true. I’ve been a landlord and worked a company at times.
