3.8 is a 4:1 ratio of As to Bs. No fractional grades in one class here.

This. AO's consider your gpa in the context of the high school. They have their version of naviance and track students who have applied from recent yrs from your high school(unless it is unknown and small) and they get info from the high school (profile and descriptors in the counselor letter) that make it easy for them to know quartile if not decile of rank.

apparently more than one...DP...I learned of this site from a buddy whose kid goes to an ivy and the parents talk about dcum. got me curious as my kid applies

Because at our school you can get a 95 and that's a 3.8. And it's not an A- to most people


A GPA is meant to calculate your transcript grades. Not the grades on your assignments.

DP. I'm local. My kid is applying to Waterloo and McGill. I've been trying to figure out where she fits based on her GPA and grades. This thread is helpful.
