usually an A is a 4.0 a b is a 3.0 a c is a 2.0 with appropriate mid points for pluses and minuses.

B is 70-79
C is 60-69

A 3.8 is the equivalent of an A- at my kid’s school.
The numerical scale is irrelevant

Okay, what's an A-?

Because at our school you can get a 95 and that's a 3.8. And it's not an A- to most people

It's meaningless to convert 3.8. All that matters is rigor of the courses, and ranking in your school.

Because a B- isn't 50%

What sort of wizardry is going on here? Why isn’t an A 90-100? Crazy.

That’s how grades are calculated in Canada.
