WSJ Rankings, Best Student Experience

Surprised to see ND in top 20 when 33% is based on diversity. I guess the other factors must be very highly rated.

Oops never mind. The commenter apparently posted the top colleges overall. ND is not anywhere near top 20, which I would expect based on the diversity ranking.

Can anyone share the list for best student experience? I’m seeing other stuff posted here.

Also, I’m sure only part of the ranking factors things like location, weather, etc. There’s more to student experience (study abroad opportunities, ability to register for classes, campus activities and amenities, food/dorms/dining). I would think all of those are taken into account with this particular ranking.

So it's not a ranking of student experience; it's ok based on someone's social engineering goals.

There’s another oddity. How is it possible for Scripps to rank first and Pomona to do so poorly? They’re in the same place. Students who hate their school can go hang out at the other one.

People are mixing and matching rankings. Pomona is ranked #7 on student experience. All the Claremont colleges are top 10 for student experience.

Pomona is #191 overall.

Can we keep the discussion on this thread to the student experience ranking? Can someone post those rankings?

Can someone please post the top 100 list for "Best Student Experience"? (Not top nationally.)

This thread is about "student experience" specifically so it's a bit confusing that the other list was posted.

thank you!!!

I think the bottom of the list looks questionable.

I thought that the University of Rochester was really a near Ivy in a battered but interesting city. How could it really have one of the worst campus experiences in the whole country?

Ever spent the winter in Rochester? I have. Basically Norilsk.

Mudd must be very different from when I was there. The "student experience" was... well, not #2 in the country. Cinderblock dorms with battered metal furniture, horrible food, and 12 hours/day studying/homework just to stay afloat.

Do you believe that students place no value on diversity for their college experience?

NP- Some do, some don't. My kids want to interact with intellectual equals that challenge them to learn more. If nature dictates that environment is diverse than so be it, if it doesn't than they really don't care.

None of the current rankings yield this list for you. Sort schools by pre-test optional SAT score ranges to help you find one where the average is near your kid's average, or just pick the highest scoring colleges if yours is one of the 99.9%ile kids who will be top quarter everywhere. CompassPrep used to print these lists for our private school's college dean to distribute to students so they could find schools with the right peer mix to be a good academic fit. No surprise the top of the list was all Ivies plus MIT/Stanford/Duke
