There are teams in the bottom 3 of the Premier League that are not as strong as the top 10

In knockout competition like the Carabao Cup, a 3rd division or 4th division club may beat a Premier League club on a Tuesday afternoon based on a number of reasons

No one with sense is running around saying the Premier League isn't the strongest league with by the most part the best teams

How many ECNL teams in the DMV can go to Florida and play in the Generation Adidas Cup against the best MLS Next Academies and International Academies without getting thoroughly embarrassed?

You have to give credit to ECNL in one regard. If a club (all ages, not just one team) is abysmal, they will give them an ultimatum and then an axe. Will MLS Next be willing to do this going forward? Achilles tells us they aren't thus far, and West Virginia should already have a pink slip.

Are you saying it's also just a coincidence that the US National Youth teams and big university programs prioritize players from one league over the rest for boys?

I think you are missing the point of what that person stated also that "pre-season" player availability theory affects all the teams in the tournament it is not exclusive to MLS-next teams.

Do you really believe the individual players on those teams are not good at all? That they’re not being developed?

I said two teams do not belong in the league. It's not a matter of wins and losses. It's a waste of resources for a team like the Red Bulls to travel to DC or West Virginia and have a 13-0 match. It serves nobody. You can go 2-20, and that's fine. But most of your games need to be competitive. When you are not providing competition for other teams, you need to move on. NYRB stopped playing WV on age (played their kids up a year) and still spanked the two WV teams. What is wrong with EDP for West Virginia? How did they get accepted to the league? It's a slippery slope to allow clubs like that in...and "club" would be a generous term.

Please depart this thread and return your busted up ECNL team; salty it was a wonderful program a few years ago. Now it’s long in the tooth. But we are jealous of your schedule. Playing 40% less games a season means you have more time to be, well, ECNL.
