Why DCUM has such high regard to Wake and Davidson?

Agree that single prolific posters try to “boost” schools (hello Davidson!) beyond what is warranted.

Davidson’s webpage says it’s about 5%, but we’re in the same ballpark.

Davidson and other great schools stand on their own merits. There may be a prolific poster here, but many of these posts are by different people. I know that because I’ve been on this forum for several years - as my kids have gone through the college process - and there are a lot of Davidson stories. It just so happens that they all seem positive, but we looked at Davidson and were impressed too. I don’t think the overall impression is just Kool Aid.

It’s both true that Davidson stands on its own merits and that there is a particular prolific over the top Davidson booster.

Any schools are regional OP.

Because they are good schools.

Plenty of NYers at both.

Since they aren't your jam, you needn't be concerned why others are very pleased with their educational experiences there.

Excellent schools, but one should visit before committing.

I’m from NC (and went to college there) and have tons of family (more recent grads as well as parents, uncles etc) that went to both schools. They are both fine schools. Neither of my kids looked there as one wanted engineering and the other might have been a good fit but choose a WASP. I think this board gets more interest in these two schools than may be warranted. Not sure what it is about (politics maybe???). That being said… It is worth taking a look at both schools. There are many, many good schools and best to cast a wide net. I think Davidson is equivalent to many of the NESCAC schools and you can receive a fine education. While I personally prefer the WASP schools if your kid is interested in a SLAC (albeit Wake is a university) these schools are worth a look. It is best to look at lots of schools as acceptance is hard at all of these schools.

Both school have acceptance rate around 20%. SAT range 1300-1500.
Not particularly difficult to get into.
You likely to encounter so-so peer in these schools.

No, they are regarded as schools for rich Whites and boring.

+1 I think this has a lot to do with it.

Only on DCUM are schools that reject 80 percent plus of applicants called easy to get into.

Average SAT for those admitted to Wake Class of 2026 was 1480. I expect Davidson similar but too lazy to look.

NP. Why did you insert W&M into this thread that isn’t asking about it?
