NP, but constipation is a side effect for some people. I actually had the opposite problem on the meds (loose stools) because I was eating so much less and much of it not fiber; I had to add more bulk, which has slowed down my weight loss but made things better overall. |
I wonder if it is eventually going to become a very accepted, cheap med for all given those amazing results. Seems to work miracles for middle aged women issues. |
I'm another that has a completely changed relationship to wine than I did before. The effects of wine, which I used to enjoy, are just no longer appealing. |
Ha! I thought about saying EXACTLY this yesterday but never replied. I am pooping maybe 1X every other day now - whereas I used to go 2X per day. I have sometimes taken stool loosener simply because I was worried. But it's really just healthy poops. Ha TMI |
I think of Ozempic as the Botox of weight loss drugs. I bet many of us will soon be on varying doses of semaglutide. It works miracles, has a lot of positive long-term effects (for me, it has stopped sugar cravings, and I haven't been reaching for a glass of wine after work), and stimulates your body's own hormones to accomplish it. |
I stopped biting my nails after decades of doing so and not being able to stop. I know that’s not a reason to take medication, but it’s a very welcome side effect. |
I poop a lot less |
I recently lost 15 lbs without semiglutids, am maybe 5 lbs from my ideal weight, and in the past two months my incipient arthritis has vanished completely. I’ve read that inflammation may be a product of overweight and associated hormonal issues. So it may not be down to the semiglutids per se, although possibly it is. |
I'm the previous poster with bad knees...my knees have not felt this good since I was 25! And i have not been overweight the whole time. It's better than a cortisone shot, I swear. |
It's similar to me with a hip injury I've had. I'm sure the underlying cause was carrying around too much weight and inflammation. Semaglutide worked better than the many PT appointments I tried. |
But wait until you hear about the long term effects folks |
NP. I’ve had multiple friends have serious non-weight issues resolve on Wegovy even before any significant weight loss. One has had serious issues with rosacea clear up (her dermatologist is thrilled). Two others saw a significant reduction in arthritis and joint pain. |
Which are? Please enlighten us. |
Not me but a close relative: Severe sleeping issues resolved, prior to weight loss (like nearly immediately). Absolutely crazy. She sleeps soundly through the night for the first time in decades. |
I think we are going to find that there is some sort of level of “low diabetes” or non-identified metabolic disorder that’s widely present in the population, not currently diagnosable by A1C level, but still there. Ozempic is essentially treating a lot of people who have a currently un-identified metabolic disorder (likely caused by environmental factors), of which weight is just one symptom. That’s why there are all these stories of arthritis, skin diseases, etc being cured or at least significantly helped by Ozempic — they are all symptoms of the same underlying metabolic disorder. |
