Lost weight successfully on semaglutide after a period of big gains, yoyo-ing...felt bloated and nothing was working. Off of it for a month and the bloat came back, along with joint pain, something that had gone away on semaglutide completely. It's not even the weight per se, but those two things made me go back on it. Who else here has had non-weight specific positive side effects on semaglutide? I feel like maybe I have a lot of inflammation and it just helps with that. |
I feel the same regarding the inflammation. |
Reduced inflammation and reduced appetite for alcohol were the two non-weight positives for me. |
Same |
These medications are meant to be taken long term because of the multiple positive results. After weightloss, some people lower to a maintenance dose.
I'm another that is very impressed with my reduced inflammation and I don't even feel like drinking wine like before. It had become a real bad habit and it's just gone. My chronic dry eyes have drastically improved as another side effect. It seems to have helped my depression and I have a more energetic optimistic outlook. That may be because of the positive changes since the medication, but I've battled depression since I was a child and this is the first time in my life that I feel more optimistic. |
On top of what other people have mentioned, after 7 months on semaglutide I was finally able to get pregnant after 4 years of trying with assistance. I'm off now but looking forward to getting back on after birth. |
Zero interest in alcohol.
Less interest in sugar (used to crave) and also stuff made with cocoa liquor tastes really weird/bad. Periods more regular. On the other hand I do experience the fatigue some weeks, and my PMS food cravings are still intense. |
I cut out processed food a noticed that my craving for salt and sugar went away. Less hungry too. |
The alcohol thing was big for me. It doesn’t taste good, and it has no effect on me anymore. |
I do too. |
Totally re wine |
Swelling. The first few days, I must have lost 5 lbs of water weight that I didn't even realize I had. My ankles NEVER swell anymore. |
The most positive side effect for me was that I no longer have to run to the bathroom after I eat. For years, I've dreaded eating outside the home or when traveling because I would need to go #2 urgently after a meal and often had loose stools. I no longer have that problem and it's been the cherry on top!

Why? |
knee pain is gone, it's worked better than any anti inflammatory in the past. midsection bloating is gone too, it's really noticeable. i'm staying on a low dose when i finish losing weight. |
