These students are proof of why there must be grouping by academic ability, instead of the absurd inclusion and equity-approaches pushed by Gatehouse and Reid.

That kid must have transferred into FCPS from elsewhere. FCPS absolutely does not allow any kid, no matter how gifted, to progress this quickly.
The student is definitely attending the multi variable calc class at McLean, he then goes back to his normal ES.
Which ESs are this flexible? And how did the kid place into calc 3?

This kid is a sophomore at TJ not a freshman. This was news last year. Weird article.

Last year she told the news she wanted to go to Harvard. UVA is quite a downgrade!

This kid is 11. People need to leave her alone.

All the previous posts are old news already, just heard the kid will be graduating HS this winter already, followed by early retirement sometime in the next 4 years!

The jealousy from all of the actual tryhards on this forum is just delicious.

I have trouble believing a lot of what is in this article for one main reason. BSA does not allow kids under the age of 11 into a Troop unless they were 10 when they bridged over from a Cub Scout Pack. Maybe she was in a Den for her grade in a Pack and bridged over really early as an AOL but the liability issues would be crazy. A 10 year old SPL, Senior Patrol Leader, is hard to fathom. 1) 10 is the earliest a Scout would be allowed into a Troop. 2) I don’t believe that there is a Troop out there where the Scouts would elect a 10 year old as the SPL. Seriously, most of the kids running for that position are at least 13 years old. There might be the occasional 12 year old but that is a real stretch and would be a small Troop. It doesn’t mention what Troop she is in so maybe a really small Girls Troop, because the BSA does not allow Coed Troops and the Girls Troops are 5 years old so many are small.

It feels like a fair amount of this child’s path has been exaggerated. No doubt she is smart but this feels like a kid whose native intelligence has been molded into something else by her parents to garner attention and potentially a pay check. I am going to guess that she will be doing something very different when she is an adult and able to walk away from whatever her parents have engineered for her.

Her parents need to stop pushing her into the spot light.

I would not use this kid as a baseline to compare your kids

Yeah, the scouts part jumped out at me too. Assuming they aren't blatently lying, I'm assuming she's in a girls troop of 5 or so, with all the kids being 10 -12 years old and no older kids.

I assumed it was mom/dad who is leader and could be her siblings as other members.

It's exaggerated to make her look like a female Young Sheldon. More power to her but it's easy to see through it all.

She is the real deal for smarts. She was going to UVa’s Saturday Enrichment Program, run by the School of Education & Human Development, since she was 6 so not surprising she’s doing college work there now. In Summer 2023 she earned 18 hours at UVa, including credits in math and science- so presuming earned at least that this summer, she’ll likely start college with enough credits to be considered 2nd or 3rd year. Her grandma was brilliant so it’s in the genes (her brothers are tested off the chart smart too). She likes learning, let her learn.

She's 12 years old. Why is OP lying?

These kids almost always flame out when. Their parents can no longer manipulate their environment.

They are usually from backwaters where no one has even seen someone this smart and they do "college" work is the same work suburban UMC smart kids are doing at their regular schools and enrichment programs.
