Donation request from teachers

My kid loves to give the teacher the donation herself. So I just sent it in the backpack or an extra tote bag.

K teacher here who has asked for those kinds of things. To answer OP's question--any way that works for you is fine. Your donation will be appreciated!

I ask for all those things because they're either not supplied, the ones that are supplied are terrible quality, or it's impossible to get refills in a timely manner. I ask for TP because building services will of course replace it, but literally one roll at a time, and it's not always available. We can go through a roll in a day, so it's important to have backup.

Bandaids are another thing most parents don't think of but are super handy. The school provided ones are trash, and this year my school didn't even give any to teachers. And I'm not sending kids to the health room for a paper cut.

Remember last year during the budget freeze when MCPS schools ran out of paper? Our school hasn't had any paper available for staff to use for the past two weeks. I teach multiple classes and need 50 copies of each paper I copy. It looks like we are back to buying our own copy paper. Yes, there is a service within the county (Copy Plus) that can be used to make copies. However, they are now quoting a two-week (10 business days) timeframe to make copies. My teammates and I placed an order over two weeks ago, and we still haven't received our order.

Also, teachers receive a stipend to order materials from the MCPS warehouse. This year, we did not receive any pencils, glue sticks, or dry erase markers. We didn't receive pencils last year either. My students asked me for tissues last week. We ran out of all the tissues I provided. I can't afford to continue purchasing materials for the students to use daily.

We greatly appreciate any and all donations!

Why aren't you using Copy Plus?

Bruh. Did you read their post? Copy Plus is backed up. For weeks. You also don’t typically use it for daily assignments. Packets? Forms to be sent home? Yes.

Advocate with the BOE. This isn't acceptable.

Sorry for the off top, but why schools don’t have a very short breaks (5 mins) between lessons? It would allow so many benefits to students AND teachers based on this comment.

Teachers don't have time between classes.

+1. You need to be telling your schools administration and parents to advocate to CO and BOE for supplies.

Treating teachers like homeless people is not a good looking.

County treats homeless often better.

Teachers are the only demographic of workers that are actively pressured to make up false numbers then discarded as professionals and blamed for the low standards when we are backed into a corner with no support or structure. Is this game all so we can pretend that we are not as tarded as we really are.

Then go with integrity and don’t make up false numbers. Put in the correct and appropriate data, on-time. And if you are being pressured to do something differently have a calm discussion explaining the numbers or data would be incorrect and thus unhelpful for students/families or trying to solve problems. If that doesn’t work there are avenus to move the up the chain including complaints to central office indicating you’re being bullied to fudge numbers and not follow process. Complaints to the IG.

My only caution is be sure you have all your T’s crossed and I’d dotted. Meaning you’ve done all you are supposed to do AND brought the problem up with Leads/Admin.
