Not the person who suggested it, but All That She Carried is great!

Eve, by Cat Bohannon. It's an exploration of the evolution of the female body, and what that tells us about the evolution of human beings. Fascinating, well written, and easy to read. Lots to talk about.

Master Slave Husband Wife- story of the Craft husband and wife who escaped from GA as slaves and made their way North, with the wife (who had a white father and was a slave to her white half sister) who appeared white dressing as a man along with her husband as her slave. Much history around what was happening in the US around slavery at the time.

Psychopath - fascinating

Also, I'm not sure if your book club sticks largely to literary reads, but our book club did Britney Spear's book and we talked about that more than any other book we have done (ps listen to it for the full experience).

In the Dream House of an excellent memoir written in a very odd, but engaging way.

Not a memoir, but I read “The Ghost Map” as part of a book club and it was great.
