In general leagues reward top clubs with a second team if they can show consistent wins across all age groups and if their player funnel that can support 2x GA or ECNL teams.
Also some clubs like Slammers have multiple clubs that are separate entities (wink wink) but all function together as a group. In this situation usually the top players from all clubs under the overall umbrella funnel the best players into a single team. The net effect is when you play Slammers Koge you're not just playing that club you're playing against the top players from every team under the Slammers umbrella. I used an ECNL club as an example but there's GA clubs that function the same way. |
| In Charlotte both CSA and Independence on the boy's side have 2 ENCL and 2 RL teams. |

So with all that said,
Will there have to be a set roster by first league game? It will be harder to move kids up and guest up from team 2 to team 1 right? Better to make the moves now than later |
ECNL and ECRL at the same club is designed to be a big pool of players. Technically NL can play RL and vice versa. However most of the time different teams have different coaches + coaches bonuses are bases on performance. If you were an RL coach how willing would you be to give your top goal scorer to the NL team? |
This here! But then again, most clubs with two teams are willing to do whatever it takes to make sure team one succeeds. |
| Does anyone know if a player can be rostered on a ECRL team and a GA team in the same season? |
Technically, yes. Two different leagues. |
You can, but GA only let's plays do it for something like 5 games. After that point players need to choose GA or leave the team. FRAM in Socal ran into this issue last year, GA took several of their wins away, and replaced them with 0-3 losses. |
