the area right outside the metro isn't fantastic but we're not really hanging out over there. the stores in that particular strip are very suburban - panera, chik fil a, etc. we stick to other parts of the hood - near muchas gracias, or go down toward cathedral commons.
Not in apartment - I guess I had somewhat expected that Tenleytown would function as sort of what Eastern Market does to that part of the Hill - central location for eating/shopping/etc but that might not be the case here.
I haven't been to Eastern Market in ages, but there used to be several homeless outside the station and tons of sketch outside that CVS.
This part of town has small pockets where folks go - Cleveland Park strip, Muchas Gracias/Rosemary Thyme strip, Spring Valley - I would not call Tenley a center in the same way as Eastern Market.
