Couch Rules? Do you have couch rules in your house? DH wakes anyone if they fall asleep on the couch

It's my husband who naps on the couch! I think it's a little weird, but I would never wake someone up if they fell asleep - that's horrendously rude. If someone falls asleep, it means they really need their sleep. A 20 min nap will do wonders until they can get to bedtime.

Everyone can take naps in their own bed, but if ever someone by accident falls asleep on the couch, your husband has to agree not to wake them.

No shoes on the couch but we all love a good nap on the couch as does the dog. But I wouldn’t put my feet on anyone else’s couch except for our parents.

I had the best afternoon nap with my dog, on the couch. Life is for living!

Couch rule in my house : no laying down or sleeping on couch. Sleep only at night and in your bed. Couches are for sitting upright.

I too sit cross cross applesauce or with my feet under me pretty much anywhere. I’m a very flexible person and it’s just more comfortable. Someone said I must have adhd and it calms me to sit like that. I do agree that it calms me at work to sit like that and helps me focus.

I would be annoyed by people sleeping on a couch. It just seems weird. But I came from a family that doesn’t nap. I’d never ever let someone spend the night on my couch. It seems gross them sweating and drooling on my couch when there’s comfy beds.

So, I have no idea whether this is what your DH is thinking, and I’m probably projecting. BUT, I hate couch napping in my house. Growing up, the couches were often occupied by my older family members napping throughout the day. They never had energy to do anything, and just “rested” constantly. Still do.

It really affects the atmosphere of the house and brings the energy way down. If you need to nap, find a bed. Don’t make the rest of us tiptoe around you.

We got leather furniture just so the dogs could use it with us and it wouldn't get trashed.

I always put my feet up because I'm short and they don't reach the floor, but I wouldn't do it at someone else's house.

I can't take a nap in bed. Only on the couch or in the club chair.

Rules: no jumping on the couch, no cats scratching on the couch, and no s*x on, or with, the couch.

It’s your house and your furniture. Do what you want. And your spouse should not dictate your sleep. People have to figure out what works best for them.

So you all sit up straight like you’re at church if you’re watching TV or reading a book?

No shoes on couch, no eating on couch.

Op here. Sitting on my feet is like this but no shoes on the couch. I do wear socks 24/7 which I know is odd to some, I prefer sleeping in socks.. I don’t know why but I do.

Yes, we do have leather couch and loveseat. Growing up, ours was fabric. DH grew up with leather.

The other annoying couch rule he has lived by is no legs/feet on the couch. I am a person who sits on their legs when sitting on the couch so again, this one irritated me, still does. I can’t break my habit, it’s too comfortable. I admit that I do sit like this at other peoples homes on their couches, and as I type this I do wonder, does this bother them?

I grew up in a house where we often slept the entire night on the couch or lazy-boy. That wasn’t abnormal in my house .

I realize we were both at opposite ends of the spectrum but did your house have couch”rules”?do you currently?

How did he convince you to marry him? Is he rich? Unkindness is a deal breaker and it can't be just the couch
