My parent is at this facility now and we have concerns about the level of care. Hoping to get them out as soon as possible, and we're grateful that parent has their wits about them enough to notice issues (though we've had trouble getting issues addressed). |
Please get your parent out ASAP. I was a patient there and never knew how bad the vulnerable are treated. Just shameful. |
Yesterday the Fairfax Board of Supervisors voted yes to Vierra's expansion - despite being made aware of many extremely serious safety issues. They did not even challenge the lawyer representing Vierra - public testimony had been provided on multiple occasions regarding these concerns. It was atrocious. For anyone with relatives having issues at this facility please be sure to file a complaint with Virginia Department of Health for documentation. Local government is not going to protect us. Also, check their google reviews. Horrible 1 star reviews that are quickly buried with what are likely fake 5 star reviews. This is a very shady operation. |
This looks like a medicaid facility. I doubt people who do research would send their family member there. |
You'd be surprised. They have a robust marketing campaign and are located in a nice neighborhood. They pump up their google rating with fake reviews. "Chandelier effect" is the term used to describe facilities like this. |
If you have looked at any senior living places then you know this is not the norm. It looks like a nursing home. It's run down and gross. I pass it daily. It's nothing like the Kensington or even the Jefferson which is also very cheap. I don't know how much it is a month, but it's too much. |
This is so sad, and is sadly the state of eldercare in the U.S.
How many other Medicaid facilities are in Fairfax County? Lots of assisted living/nursing homes do not take Medicaid and most do not have the assets to pay. |
It is a nursing home (skilled nursing facility/rehab). And that is exactly the problem - it is an SNF that is supposed to be regulated by Virginia Department of Health. They are licensed to administer medications and they cannot do so safely as previous posters have mentioned. This is exactly what Fairfax County Board of Supervisors does not seem to want to acknowledge. They are too focused on bragging about all the Medicaid beds that will be available. Who cares if there are beds if the care is negligent? People look at reviews and think this place is safe. They take a tour and see a decent lobby and think the place is clean. Eldercare consultants are recommending this place. Many people are being duped. It is sad and very scary. |
