They weren't so much as loaded as they were stacked. The drive, the fields, the refs and games-- not impressed. Why does AS have 3 and 4 teams for some regions? If they claim to have the top talent, there should be 1 team per region. Corn fields, middle of nowhere turf and watered down teams is what AS is.

Money grabs, plain and simple, but that doesn't mean the A team from Long Island is worse than the one team Long Island AA puts on, that's my point.

IIf your child is interested in high academic consider Lacrosse Masters! They offer D1 and D3 clinics/showcase. My kid caught the attention of several Ivy League schools by attending this camp twice, once in the fall and again in the summer.

As I understand it Ivies can’t give athletic money. Do they typically provide some other financial aid/academic aid/incentives to lure kids to the school or should you expect to pay the full price if you go to one?

If the parent makes under $200,000, generous financial aid is available at Ivy League schools. Merit/academic aid may also be available. Lacrosse players in general at most D1 schools do not receive full scholarships; it isn't like football. Ivy League schools have admission rates of 2% - 5%, so if the sport opens up the opportunity for these students to get in, that is wonderful!

There's no merit or academic aid at Ivy League schools. The need-based aid is generous, and up to incomes even above $200k at several.

Ivy league schools have donor endowment/private scholarships for athletes available for top recruits.

All of these are likely evolving until we see how any potential NCAA settlement impacts the programs. UA/AS are over. DD played in both including the senior game and nice gear but a nicer vacation could have been had. LM is over, too sadly. Great concept as the coaches own a piece of it and are therefore incented to attend. Company that owns it got too big branching same concept into other sports. So now even if you do well, coaches oftentimes take the attitude of the competition your DD is up against isnt any good. So yes, skip it. Juniors Open is a riff off of the LM model, but it too has gotten too big and by allowing area coaches to coach their teams you have the Philly/Jersey kids and their coaches getting promoted to the detriment of others even to the point of playing kids out of position. Its stupid and petty but we are talking lax. BIC and Committed Games are the two best. Play on the best team your child can. If you're not on the field, you can't be seen and can't get committed. Grades are huge but coaches are caring less about that sadly. Understand this is not about money but admissions. So don't see dollar signs if your DD makes all conference, etc.

I think AS/AA/UA150/JO will still be relevant for the 27 class and maybe the 28 class, but after that I agree with you.

Great point about JO in that you can get stuck on a team with players getting coaches by their own club coach. Especilly for a DMV kid, that's a big risk to take. UA150 may have less talent, but very good film -- my 25 daughter had a ton of hits on her UA150 film.

LM is great if you are targeting NESCAC schools, but better opportunities for other high academic schools.
