Baby shower drama

I would just tell your friend that it’s an adult only event and change the time to the evening so that women can leave their children at home with their husbands.

I agree with the advice to just flex the plans to accommodate everyone. Do not feel obligated to go overboard making kid friendly activities or foods. The parents have to manage their kids behavior and expectations, not yours. Putting a movie on is a great suggestion.

Plus, it gives you a time limit for the party. Two short kids movies and you're done.

This is a good suggestion. If you don't know any teenagers, ask her if she can get a couple moms to officially supervise the kids during the shower.

Why are people talking about hiring babysitters for a party where parents are present? Making a mountain out of a molehill

Just saying not all of us have kids back to back If there is a substantial (>3-4 years) gap between 1 and 2, its unlikely you have what you need for the baby. Babies #2, #3, etc are still new babies.

You are drastically changing the feel by adding kids- boy OR girl. If you want it to be special and what YOU originally thought, stick to it. She sounds harmlessly clueless and just needs you to clue her in on how it should be done.

You're making a lot of assumptions about what this pregnant woman needs. Your privilege is showing and it doesn't look good.
