Premium plus tickets are ranked higher on the waitlist than everyone except maybe GS. Regardless OP if that’s to buy outright and not get on the waitlist, absolutely snatch it up that’s a steal! |
6 people don’t need to be all in line of sight. Just couple up whatever kids want to be near each other (pair them with a sibling or parent). I’ve had a 6 year old who would have been fine on her own and a 14 year old who’d rather die than sit next to a stranger. As for the duo seating arrangement, Polaris has a privacy screen that you keep up or down as you prefer. |
Yes. I would have taken that offer instantly. |
If you grab aisles and windows across from each other, you can generally see into the seat across the aisle, especially if you lean forward. Better if you are in a window that's aligned towards the aisle. It is complicated though because of the alternating alignment. |

That's the standard price for a Polaris upgrade. I've padi the same on shorter long-haul United flights, like IAD-FRA. I'm surprised they are able to confirm it right away -- I end up waitlisted when I buy it, but then sometimes it will clear a few weeks in advance, and sometimes the day of the flight, and sometimes never (like my last IAD-FRA fligth 2 weeks ago).
You'll be ahead of all except Global Services and other elites who also requested the upgrade. It's a good deal on that long flight you're doing (IAD-HND) -- I'm on the same one in a few weeks actually. |
| It's back to waitlist again. Also, I noticed that after I checked in, the cash price to upgrade went from $4K to $2K per ticket...not that I can do a cash upgrade but i was surprised by the price drop. |
| Are your current tickets economy plus or premium economy? My family (2 adults and three teens) did a round trip to Tokyo with United in premium economy. It was very comfortable. I say this someone who flies business for work. If your tickets are premium economy, no need to upgrade, honestly. |
Take it. And even if it is waitlist, you won't be charged if you don't get the upgrade. They will refund your miles and charge. |
| No. |

I believe that’s on a 777. I’ve done it on a flight to Europe with 1 younger and 1 older I would say put the younger kids next to you in a middle seat together. You roll down the divider in the middle so that your close enough that they can see you if they want to. The older kids are more happy with their own seat by the windows. I believe the seats in the middle with the divider that goes down is the odd number seats. It will show on the seat map as two straight seats not two
angled. Hope this helps. It’s worth it. The kids loved the Polaris club and restaurant. |
Premium Plus on United is a recliner seat. It's better than economy, but I much prefer a flat bed seat. I fly United 10x a year long-haul, and I've been in all manner of their seats (and planes) long haul. |
