Try to dine at Spoon & Stable or Owamni! Or Zen Box for casual. Definitely check out the Guthrie Theatre - you don’t have to see a show, but go for the view of the river. Also, Mill City Museum. Walk across Stone Arch Bridge to St Anthony Main area for a cocktail at Aster Cafe.

+1 to Spoon & Stable
Went in the spring and it's divine.

If you rent a car, go to Valleyfair. Fun amusement park.

Dine at JD Hoyts or Mannys. Brits Pub is also fun.

Go inside the Cathedral in St. Paul or the Basilica in Minneapolis (Basilica is nicer, IMO). Even if you're not religious, they're two of the most impressive churches in this country.

Do be careful about Valleyfair, though; last I heard, a good chunk of it was flooded.

It’s…OK. Probably a must do if you’re a fan. Kind of boring if you’re not.

Following.

I will be going with DD to check out colleges. Where is good shopping? She will want to do some of that. I don’t think I can handle mall of America but maybe some neighborhoods with good shopping?

Mall of America is so overwhelming, but it is also interesting to see once, just because it has that amusement park inside, an aquarium, and bunch of other things. Also no sales tax on clothing

As far as malls go, Mall of America will give you enough shopping for days. It is big, but manageable; the layout is pretty simple — just a big square shaped loop with three floors. That being said, both Ridgedale and Rosedale malls have just as good mixes of stores. The Galleria in Edina is very pleasant to walk through, though quite upscale.

Regarding neighborhoods with good shopping, I would say either North Loop in Minneapolis, Grand Ave in St. Paul, or 50th and France in Edina. If you are able, take a day trip out to Stillwater for their Main Street — plenty of unique stores in one of the prettiest parts of the state.

In case you didn’t know already, there is no sales tax on clothing and shoes in Minnesota.

Paisley Park is so interesting and I almost cried. But…I used to be a huge Prince fan, so there you go. It was fun to be around other big fans, too. You could tell who was dragged along…
