Some great meal ideas here. I do the same thing as many of the previous posters. I have a teen daughter, and I am very concerned about body image issues. Thus I don't talk about how I'm not happy with my weight, or talk about watching calories, etc. Instead I try to make balanced meals and then I eat less carbs than my kids do. For example, last night I made tacos and the adults put the taco toppings (chicken, black beans, baked sweet potatoes) over quinoa and spinach instead of in taco shells. |
You feed hungry teenagers zuchini noodles with a side of bread? |
She said with meat sauce. |
OP here. Thanks for the replies/suggestions. Basically, DH and I have been having smaller portions of the same dinner but with larger servings of veg and salad. It’s so hard. I’m only trying to lose 10 lbs but am really regretting letting myself go. |
My kid eats frequently and frankly a lot of times we don’t all eat together so I do a lot of meal prep on weekends so he has some dishes to choose from for his second/third dinners. I make stuff like easy fried rice with ground turkey/veg/rice, pasta casseroles with meats/cheese, egg/sausage/hashbrown casserole with veg, just stuff with lots of carbs and protein that he can easily grab. We stick to more meat/veg/salads for us. |
What types of dinners? |
